Bear
Valley, in Colusa County, is home to one of the most spectacular wildflower
displays in the country. Each spring, sweeping vistas of color cover thousands
of acres, evolving as the season progresses and as weather patterns change.
Walker Ridge runs north-south in the Coast Range between Bear Valley and
Indian Valley. We will explore the ridge and portions of both valleys in
search of the vast array and diversity of wildflowers for which the area
is famous. We will discuss techniques for creating great wildflower photos
then practice these methods on lupines, paintbrush, huge fields of California
poppies, tidytips, bitterroot, yellow fairylanterns, delphinium, and several
other species. There also will be some telephoto opportunities with grassland
bird species such as western meadowlarks,
nesting barn owls, cliff swallows, and much more! We'll end the day atop
Walker Ridge for some beautiful Coast Range scenics at sunset! |
