DAVID ROSEN
Naturalist/Photographer
Wildside Photography and Public Relations
David has photographed the nature and wildlife of North
America from Alaska to Florida! He has worked as a naturalist for
twenty years with agencies across the country. His B.S. in biology
from The University of Michigan and extensive field experience have
given David an intimate understanding of and a deep love for nature
and wildlife.
As a naturalist, David has worked with Shenandoah National Park
in the Blue Ridge mountains of Virginia, Sacramento County Parks
at the Effie Yeaw Nature Center, the California Department of Fish
and Game at Gray Lodge Wildlife Area, and a few other locations
along the way! In all of these positions, David developed and led
environmental education programs and natural history walks that
were enjoyed by thousands, ranging in age from preschool to senior
citizen. For five years, David worked with Ducks Unlimited as Public
Affairs Coordinator for the western United States. In this capacity
he promoted the wetland conservation efforts of this organization,
including planning and coordinating the Presidential dedication
of the Yolo Bypass Wildlife Area wetland restoration project in
November of 1997.
David is now working as a freelance photographer/naturalist
and public relations consultant with his own business, Wildside
Photography and Public Relations. Specializing in nature and
wildlife, his slide files contain thousands of publication quality
images of plants, animals, habitats, and outdoor recreational activities
from across the continent. He provides the reproduction rights to
his photos for magazines, books, postcards, calendars, and numerous
other types of clients nationwide. He offers a wide selection of
matted, framed custom prints of flora, fauna, and scenic landscapes.
His work has been featured in several exhibits and he is frequently
requested as a guest speaker to present slide shows on a variety
of topics.
David leads Nature Photography Adventures to many of
northern and central California's most outstanding natural areas!
These exciting field trips enable the participants to learn about
equipment, film, and techniques for all aspects of nature photography
from macro to telephoto. On his trips, David emphasizes the natural
history of the area as well as ethical photographic practices. In
addition to leading field trips, David shoots assignments and has
taught nature photography classes and workshops for several educational
institutions, camera stores, and other organizations.
